We read D&C 89 and discussed the Word of Wisdom - the revelation, the meaning and the application of it. (What, why and how to live it). The girls were given an assignment to complete a log of the food they ate in a day - and then plot it on the paperwork they were given. (When they turn them in, they get a surprise!) We played Pictionary & Hangman and made smoothies. The smoothie comments were: "Too much banana"..... "too much strawberry".... "too much orange juice"....and then not enough of any of those. Hard group to please! Next time we'll try something different. :)

9/1 Activity: T-shirts
Newest member!
8/18 Activity: Vision Boards
We created vision boards to represent three goals for the coming year. Each girl was asked to choose 3 goals: for home, school & church. Then, they were given a poster board, markers and tons of magazines from which to choose pictures that represented their goals!
Messy but fun! It was great seeing what the girls came up with!

July 7 activity: Scripture totes
Lily is one of the most creative girls I've ever met. She wrote her name then filled in flowers (what else? lilies, of course) around it. She is about to leave us to enter the Young Women program and we're going to miss her! Everything she does has flair!
Lily's sister Rachel apparently also received the artistic gene because she draws better than I ever could! She is shy, but so sweet.
Lena, with those cheekbones to die for, is soft-spoken and very kind. Her smiles lights up her face!
The girls were given a Book of Mormon reading chart (to color in as they go along) and we read the introduction together. They each passed off at least one of the Articles of Faith and we discussed the importance of Scripture study. Then, they colored tote bags using fabric markers.

June 2: Friendship bracelets
We shared a brief lesson on the Giant Redwood trees and how their branches are not very deep, but they extend outward and link themselves to other Redwoods - and likened this to friendship being a network of linked friends. Then we made friendship bracelets. Shannon was enterprising and decided to use her mouth as the "pulling" point for the strings!
